After a long awaited BlackBerry product Playbook eventually release as well. Official tablet RIM officially on the market is North America on April 19, 2011 last. For the Indonesian market, Playbook reportedly will attend the upcoming June. But in April and the Asia Pacific Rim including InfoKomputer has invited journalists to try out the ability of the Playbook. Accompanied by Oliver Pilgerstorfer, RIM's PR manager for south east asia region, we tested the spirit tablets that have the 7 inch screen.
Speaking of the screen, the first thing that attracted attention was the screen quality is so excellent. Screen with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels is capable of displaying images that are very sharp, detailed and rich in color. The advantages are very obvious once when Playbook showing a film featuring the blue sea and the clouds are very fascinating. And keep in mind at all, Playbook supports 1080p HD video in the classroom with a variety of formats such as AVI, MP4, FLV, as well as the converted video to the High profile 1080p format. Imagine so delicious to enjoy movies with high definition in a traffic jam and the boredom of waiting for something. Playbook also provides an HDMI jack, so we can play video from the Playbook to television.
We also really liked its compact and lightweight. The dimensions of size 13x19, 4 cm and a thickness of 1 cm may be too big to fit into the pocket of pants and jacket. But with a 425 gram weight, it seems Playbook will not become a troublesome burden when entered into a briefcase. The back Playbook itself is made of rubber material so that more solid and comfortable grip with no easy feels slippery. So when compared with ipad or Acer ICONIA A500, Playbook is superior in terms of portability.
Another advantage of trying highlighted Playbook is multitasking. In the demo shown how Playbook berasamaan can run applications, ranging from a browser, video, music and other applications. Nearly 10 applications that run simultaneously Playbook can handle without experiencing significant problems.
Playbook also has its own application store that is different from blackberry phone app untul world. Asked about the application for the Playbook, oliver admitted today is probably not much, but he believes the future will be very bright and a lot of applications which support the Playbook. The reason Playbook applications can be created with the programming language C + +, Adobe water, HTML5, and javascript. "Even Playbook also can run applications Androit" says Oliver. RIM will provide virtualization applications that will run applications on the operating system Andorid Playbook.
But ironically, of all the demonstrations that do, do not involve e-mails that have been the power of BlackBerry. Apparently, this is where the "weakness" Playbook: no e-mail, contacts and calendar. The only if you want to access data is by linking Playbook with BlackBerry phones (the RIM BlackBerry called Bridge). If already connected, all e-mails that exist on the BlackBerry device can be seen in the Playbook. But when the pairing is interrupted, the data is missing from Playbook. But RIM promises of specific applications of e-mail at Playbook will be present in the near future.
